Trash tunnel with Thingking 2020
Thingking is a great local design studio and manufacturer of amazing things. In March 2020 they asked us to be part of a large scale installation – because of our affinity with plastic waste – at the Western Cape Government building in the centre of Cape Town in just two weeks, and just before COVID 19 hit Cape Town hard.
First, we worked to tie thousands of post consumer plastic bottles onto strings of fishing line. These were then attached onto 10 metre long nets.
On site, we worked closely with Thingking to suspend the long nets, and to fill in spaces manually using a scissor lift and a cherry picker.
